Sudbury, Ontario – With an ongoing mission to serve children and families in Northern Ontario, Tutor Doctor of Sudbury, celebrated its 10 year anniversary of service with a community fundraising bash that raised over $1,000 towards the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFCC), a non-profit providing care and advocacy for children and their families affected by cancerous diseases, on September 8, 2018.
Tutor Doctor of Sudbury and over 300 members of the community came together at Science North to celebrate.
“With September being National Childhood Cancer Awareness month, we truly felt it was a perfect fit for us to celebrate our 10 year anniversary by giving back to an organization that we are so passionate about!” stated Veronyk Zinn, Education Consultant and co-owner of Tutor Doctor Sudbury. “We couldn’t be happier to see so many people in the Sudbury community coming together to share this special occasion while raising funds for an amazing local charity.”
In addition to the philanthropic achievement, Tutor Doctor and Science North coordinated activities for students of all ages throughout the centre during the event. Science North’s Bluecoats created programs that let students explore virtual reality, build circuits and get an inside look at the human body.
Tutor Doctor also partnered with keynote speakers Ryan Benoit, founder of Positive Inception and Theresa Nyabeze, founder of Diversity Stem. Both lead engaging discussions with students and adults about themes of growth, continuous learning, and the importance of setting goals.
